Tomás Peña, Jr. is a visionary fine arts leader and senior music educator with 30+ years of experience building nationally competitive programs and launching new educational initiatives from the ground up. Based in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Tomás brings proven expertise in program leadership, large-scale logistics, curriculum design, and institutional operations—supported by both practical experience and advanced academic credentials.

During his 26 years as Assistant Fine Arts Director and Head Band Director at Economedes High School in Edinburg CISD, Tomás founded the Fine Arts Department and Performing Arts Center, establishing award-winning ensembles that achieved 24+ Sweepstakes and Superior ratings. His winterguard earned a Top 30 national placement at WGI World Championships. Under his mentorship, students earned over 8,000 Region and State Solo & Ensemble medals and produced numerous TMEA All-State and All-Area musicians. He also served as administrative head for all district-wide Fine Arts disciplines, ensuring compliance and implementing curriculum across multiple school systems.

Tomás holds a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from The University of Texas–Pan American and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the same institution. He holds a State of Texas Lifetime Educator License for All-Level Music (K-12) and is bilingual in English and Spanish (native speaker). His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Jazz Educators Association, Georgia Music Educators Association, and National Band Associations.

Beyond formal education roles, Tomás serves the community as a part-time preacher and counselor, bringing expertise in conflict resolution and public speaking. His interests in artificial intelligence, technology integration, and innovative solutions position him at the forefront of modernizing educational practices. Whether launching new departments, mentoring emerging educators, or optimizing institutional workflows, Tomás is committed to creating inclusive environments where students and educators thrive.
